6 Meter Information

6 meter model yachts are based on the full size 6 meter class which originated in Scotland in the early 1900s.

They are very similar in shape to the full size 6 meter yachts and are very graceful & elegant on the water.

The average length of a 6 meter model yacht is 1400mm or 1.4 meters.

They have timeless lines and are very easy to sail once you get going.

Draft, ballast, length and weight also govern these boats but there is more scope for design.

The ideal is to acheive maximum sail area in relation to the water line and penalties are included in this formula.

More materials are available to this class mainly, wood, glass fibre and carbon fibre.
